So this week not much as happened. We had a couple beautiful warm days and got to take the dogs to the dog park and cook out on the grill!! That was really nice :)... I've been trying to watch more how much and what I'm eating so I don't get too big. I've also been jogging/walking more and lifting my little 5lb weights. It's helping me feel more energized and awake (most of the time). I've been sleeping really well, but only on days that I have to get up super early for work, and then sleeping awful on weekends. Getting used to sleeping on my left side is being a big of a challenge some nights because it kills my back and shoulder, even though I have my big pillow for support. We have our next doctors appointment coming up in a week and then from there our next ultrasound will be scheduled. We'll finally be able to find out if our little shrimp is a boy or a girl and start making our baby registry!! :) YAYY we cant wait!! Until next time! :)

Looking forward to: the weekend so hubby and I can relax together
Another week as flown by and we're that much more closer to finding out if it's a boy or a girl. We went home to Ohio this past weekend so this post is a little later than usual. We took it last night when we got home so that's why I look so tired and "big" lol... Seems like the later in the day it is and especially right after eating (which is both in this case) the more my tummy sticks out. I've learned this week that I need to stop stuffing myself so full because it only makes me feel sick and huge afterwards; kinda like I'm feeling right at this very moment. BLAH :(.... Anyway! We really enjoyed our trip to see our family :)! We celebrated my moms birthday, which is tomorrow, and I overindulged on cake and ice cream as usual. Then yesterday before we left my mom took me shopping and we bought a bunch of cute clothes for this summer that were on clearance. Can't wait for spring/summer so I can wear it all!!! Still no maternity clothes yet, which I'm sure is right around the corner with as much as I'm eating WHOOPS! Doctor told me 2 weeks ago that she only wanted me to gain 2 lbs a month, yeahhhhh well that's not happening lol and it totally seems unrealistic to me. I'm trying my best to watch what I eat and to stay active, so that's all I can do; right? Can't believe it's almost March!! Only 5 more months and we'll be parents!! :O

This past week, to me, was very emotional. I felt like I was crying almost every night because of how I looked and because nothing seemed to fit. But I just need to keep reminding myself of this quote I found, "Don't stress about things like food or weight. Just be sensible. There's no need to give yourself an anxiety attack over the pint of ice cream you just finished. Take it as your special reward for everything you've accomplished so far in your pregnancy, and move on". I know everyone around me is probably getting sick and tired of me complaining about being "fat", sorry guys!! but I am trying!!!
We are 15 weeks and 4 days as of today so only 24 weeks and 3 days to go!! And in just 4 more weeks we should be having our next ultra sound to find out if our little shrimp is a boy or a girl!! I know we cant wait, as well as everyone else!! : )

Our Little Shrimp
The Wednesday before Christmas, December 21, 2011, we had our first sonogram. I didn't really know what to say or think when we say our little baby, but Jerry and I gave it the nickname of Little Shrimp : ). It's heart rate was 166, nice and strong! : ) This just so happened to be the same day we were leaving Maryland to go home for Christmas, so we thought it would be a great present to show everyone once we got home.
The doctor informed us that our next sonogram wouldn't be until week 20, so we have six more weeks to go and I can't wait to finally see our lil shrimp again and to finally see if "it" is a boy or a girl!!! Our next regular appointment is coming up on Monday and we both get excited to go see how the baby is doing. We're going to try and do weekly updates from here on out and post updates of the "bump". Hope you all enjoy reading about our first experience of pregnancy together.
Daddy's Reaction!
So on a typical day off I wouldn't expect to be woken up at 5am, but on November 22nd I got a surprise that will change my life forever. Jennifer woke me with a smile on her face from ear to ear and she told me that for the first time since we've been trying, we finally have a positive indicator that we're pregnant.
My first reaction was along the lines of "What are you thinking, it's 5AM and I don't have to be at work?", but after a moment to come to I was ecstatic to hear that it's finally happening. After all this time we are finally having a child of our own.
Our initial thoughts were that it happened while we was on vacation which wouldn't have been the best scenario since there was some wild nights with fishbowls and cool Caribbean breezes, but after we had our first doctor's appointment and found the doctor's estimates we slowly realized that we was safe and that it happened more than likely on a Saturday afternoon where there were constant reruns on TV. On a more serious note it happened after vacation and it was good that it did.
Right now we're at 14 weeks and I couldn't be happier. A conversation Jennifer and I had when we first got married and was planning a family was that I wanted to be a father before I was 26, so with the timing we are expected to be due on August 2nd which is a month before my 27th birthday. My thoughts are that this is perfect timing if I say so myself and I am just very grateful that we can finally experience our first pregnancy as I cannot wait to be a father to a son or daughter.
Don't tell Jennifer, but I don't have a preference and I'm just excited that we can share this experience together!

Finding Out!
Well, believe it or not, I didn't even expect to see those two little pink lines. We had gotten so used to only seeing one I didn't even think it was possible. Monday November 21, 2011 I fell asleep super early on the couch. When I woke up for some reason just thought it wasn't normal that I had been THAT tired lately and thought to myself, "well, maybe I should take a test in the morning just in case; our family is coming tomorrow and this way I'll feel safe to have a few drinks". Yes, that's what crossed my mind. Jerry was off the following day so he didn't have to get up at 5AM with me for once. I even hesitated to even take the test, but for some reason felt that I should. Well we all know the results!! : ) Two little pink lines popped up right away and I couldn't believe my eyes! I didn't know what to do, he was still sleeping and I was in shock. So I ran out of the bathroom and jumped on top of him to wake him and said " JERRY! You won't believe this! We're pregnant!". Needless to say he had no idea what I was saying or talking about after being woke up so abruptly, it was priceless! Unfortunately, I had to get ready and go to work all full of energy and excitement and no idea how to tell my family! Jerry couldn't get back to sleep after that so he stayed up with the dogs for a little while.
My family arrived that afternoon, but we didn't tell them until the next day; I think because we were still trying to soak it in what just happened. They were very excited for us and couldn't wait to start telling other family members. I had no idea what to do next so I was glad my mom was there at the time. She told me I needed to call the doctor and ask them what to do. I called the doctors office that same day and said "um I've had a positive pregnancy test, what do I do now?" She informed me that it needed to be confirmed by a blood test. So two long weeks, and two blood tests later, it was finally confirmed and our first doctors appointment was made. : )
